Важно: буквосочетания or, wor стремятся к звуку [ə:r]. Слово word проще произнести как [wə:rd], нежели [wɔ:rd].

Другие сочетания с r, которые дают звук [ɔ:r], также можно встретить в версии [ə:r], особенно в быстрой речи и безударном положении.

Я называю это The Paradigm of Reduction. Все в устной версии языка стремится к редукции.

Чтение are

are читается как [eər] или [er], в зависимости от редукции.

[eər] – полная форма

[er] – сокращенная форма
